CA Wildfire: Pilot Fire | August 10, 2016

Incident Summary

San Bernardino National Forest, CA | The Pilot started on 8/7/2016 around 1210 Hours PDT from an unknown cause.  It is still under investigation.  The fire is located between Pilot Rock Ridge and State Highway 173 in Hisperia, California.


The fire is under Unified Command with CAL Fire’s San Bernardino Unit and the with the San  Bernardino County Sheriff Office.  There are 1746 firefighters assigned alongside the aid of 105 engines, 14 water tankers, 46 crews, 18 dozers and 12 helicopters.

Size & Containment

The fire has consumed 7,861 acres and forced many evacuations.  Fire crews have 64% containment status.

Mandatory Evacuations

Mandatory evacuations were conducted/orders still in effect for the following impacted communities:

  • Deer Lodge Park
  • Aleutian Drive
  • Klondike Drive
  • Evergreen Lane
  • Yukon Drive
  • Hwy 173 North & South from Hwy 138 to Arrowhead Lake Road
  • South of Rock Springs Rd to Kiowa Road
  • East of Santa Fe Road
  • South of Ranchero Road to Arrowhead Lake Rd
  • North of Spillway
  • Grass Valley Lake (Community)
  • N of Peninsula (Lake Arrowhead)
  • North Bay Road S to Hwy 173 (Lake Arrowhead)
  • South of Hwy 173 from North Bay Road to Grass Valley  Road (Lake Arrowhead)
