Fields Point Fire | Newly Reported Washington Wildfire

LAKE CHELAN, Wash.

UPDATE 1 – JULY 20, 2018 – 2000 HOURS PDT

A wildfire was reported between 0425 and 0500 hours PDT on Friday, July 20, 2018 from an unknown cause on the shoulder of Southshore Road at Milepost 7, north of Manson along Lake Chelan and near Fields Point.

The fire quickly spread up a hillside to the southeast and has now reached 60 acres and said to currently burning in the old burn scar of the 2015 First Creek Fire.  Fire behavior is slow and smoldering.

The fire was said to be at 50 acres of timber, grass and brush at which time prompted many fire assets from WA DNR, USFS and local fire districts to pour into the area.   Personnel and equipment included 100 personnel, three IAcrews, three engines, seven brush trucks, two air tankers and one helicopter, plus additional staff (overhead team).

Around 1335 hours, Level 1 and 2 evacuations were in effect while roadways were still open.
