OWYHEE, Nev. —

7/22/2018 1940 PDT —

A wildfire broke out less than one mile from the town of Owyhee in Nevada on Saturday, July 21st around 0900 hours from an unknown cause.

There is a total of 411 personnel assigned to this incident along with an unknown amount of equipment and additional support staff.

Fire has consumed 5,000 acres of brush (2 feet) and short grass (1 foot). Crews have reached a 10% containment status.  Fire behavior is active and wind-driven.

Scheduled fire activities include structure protection and public safety.  Fire is expected to continue to threaten the town of Owyhee.

Incident Cooperators include BIA, BLM, County and Local government, FWS, Nevada Div of Forestry and US Forest Service.
