Benton County, Washington | Wagon Wheel Fire
Incident Summary | A 2-alarm wildfire broke out on Saturday, September 1, 2018, near Highway 225, just north of Benton City would grow from a smaller into a large one advancing towards Red Mountain.
The fire was said to have originated just before 1415 hours PDT near the end of W Sunrise PR NW in Benton County. The fire was said to be near the southeast edge of the Arid Lands Ecology Preserve.
Level 3 evacuations were initiated for those who live between SR 225, N Trinity PR and S Wagon Wheel around 1630 hours on Saturday. Road closures included SR 225 from Acord Road to SR 240.
Evacuations would be later lifted at 1730 hours for residents for the same previous areas broadcasted but SR 225 remained closed.

Resources | State was approved and were/are en route.
Current Situation Report | All roadways are back open and evacuation orders have been lifted. Crews have reached a 50% containment status. Around 1720 hours on Saturday, Level 3 evacuations had been ordered for the Wagon Wheel PR to the north of Trinity PR NW. Fire is said to have burned up to 7,500 acres. (per a media report). WildCAD is still showing 3,000 acres burned.
