EL DDORADO COUNTY, California — A brush fire is burning on Settlers Trail, east of Latrobe that was ignited by a mechanical failure. The fire ignited on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 around 1456 hours PT.

The name of the fire is SETTLERS FIRE.

The Lead Fire Response Unit is CAL FIRE’s Amador – El Dorado unit.

Fire spread to area dry fire fuels that destroyed about 45 acres. Crews have gained a 95% containment status and are well on their way to reaching their 100% containment goal. It is estimated that they will reach this objective sometime on Friday, May 21, 2021.

There have been no damages or destroyed structures.

One engine responded with five personnel. All air attack that were on the initial response have been released, according to CAL FIRE officials.

At this moment, the incident is in a patrol status due to gusty winds.
