Sunday Update – August 29, 2021

the MONUMENT FIRE is burning in Del Loma (Trinity County) near Monument Peak on the Shasty-Trinity National Forest in California, that broke out on July 30, 2021 around 1228 hours PT.

Fire management is in Unified Command including CAL FIRE and Shasta-Trinity NF.

The fire has burned 163,155 acres that is 23 % contained.

Current Fire Status

  • Smoke cap has been lingering over the fire area for several days has finally lifted itself
  • Fire behavior increased when this occurred
  • However, has not breached the containment lines which is great news
  • 8,180 structures plus 7,400 other minor structures were threatened this morning.
  • Six firefighter injuries, none to civilians.

Fire Resources:

  • 2,370 total personnel
  • 18 copters
  • 172 engines
  • 57 dozers
  • 62 water tenders
  • 51 crews

Fire Operations is broken up into zones: South, North, boundaries:

South Zone:

  • Crews and heavy equipment assisted the North Zone with fire line construction, structure protection

North/South Boundary:

  • Tactical patrol continues and suppression repair has been started.
