On June 7, 2023, the local Fire Agency, Naches FD, and County Fire agencies responding as mutual aid responded to a 3-alarm brush fire off of Old Naches Highway between Naches and Gleed in Yakima County, Washington.

Day One: June 7th – Local, county, and State fire resources and equipment responded to the fire line and begin fire suppression tactics, rotors assisted with retardant drops. No evacuations are ordered. No structures are damaged or reported as lost. No cause of the fire is known, which is under investigation.

Day Two: June 8th – DNR firefighters worked overnight and reached a 100% containment status.

Day Three: June 9th – Fire incident reported to the National Interagency Fire Center, fire is 100% contained. About 645 acres were destroyed. The fire appears to have started on private land and caused a total cost-to-date of $75,000 for fire suppression and containment efforts.

No firefighters or civilians were reported injured.

We have reached out to the Naches Fire Department for the cause of the fire.
