CONTRA COSTA (COUNTY), CALIFORNIA — A 2nd alarm wildfire is burning near Deer Valley Road and Balfour Road in Brentwood (Contra Costa County) which broke out on Sunday, June 25, 2023, and is said to be about 55 acres in size.

Fire personnel has successfully reached a 60% containment status.

Forward progression has been stopped.

The management of the fire is in Unified Command with CAL FIRE – SCU and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

There is no IMT assigned.

Resources include OES Intel 12, CAL FIRE, and Contra Costa County fire personnel, along with Copter 106, Tanker 103, Bomber 210, and N57112.

It is known as “Balfour Fire” or Balfour Fire Command.

It was said to have started this afternoon around 1320 hours.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.
