KERR GULCH, COLORADO — Lightning this afternoon, sparked a wildfire near the intersection of Wieler Road and Kerr Gulch Road striking an old dry tree. It would move into dry grasses and duff and burn to light flashy fuels.
Fire crews would hold the fire to .25 of an acre and switch over to mop-up operations, which included putting out hot spots that remained in unburned fire fuels.
Multiple residents and passing drivers called the 911 communications center, alerting local firefighters to be able to respond quickly and egress on the fire.
