SIT REP 1: Sunday, July 2, 2023, 1500 hours PDT

A wildfire ignited by lightning on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 1500 hours MDT (1400 PDT), is burning north of Hwy 160 on Chris Mountain and about three miles west of Pagosa Springs, Colorado in the San Juan National Forest.
Mandatory evacuation orders are in effect for: Forest Road 628 (Source: Archuleta Co, June 28, 2023)
Currently, the fire has scorched 431 acres of Ponderosa pine forest and there is a 0% containment status.
About 365 total personnel are assigned with multiple other pieces of heavy equipment and aircraft resources.
The fire’s current behavior is moderate with short surface runs with intermittent single tree torching and some spotting as observed by Fire Officials and crews.
A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) was issued on June 29, 2023, and will remain in effect until July 29, 2023.
Management of the fire is under the Rocky Mountain Area Complex Incident Management Team Type 3 (RMA CIMT3) who assumed command on Friday at 2000 hours MDT. (1900 PDT).
