This past weekend, the Bellevue Fire Department (WA) held its first Firefighter Recruitment Workshop which firefighters presented to a large audience of those looking into stepping into a Fire Service career.

The four-hour series provided a peek into the necessary skills and qualifications required to have a successful Fire Service career from panel discussions on the hiring process, training, and interviews.

Testing their keen sense of interest, those who had the golden opportunity to have hands-on experience with a charged firehose as well as current firefighters shared their experience and encouraged those to apply.

Feedback from those in attendance of this popular by demand Workshop, the Bellevue Fire Department will hold another workshop in the Spring.

We’d just love to be there and take some amazing photos but these are pretty amazing. KUDOS to the photographer behind the camera! – NWFB

About the Bellevue Fire Department

The Bellevue Fire Department is located in beautiful but very busy Bellevue (King County), Washington, which was formed as a professional department with full-time firefighters in 1965. The small town City Fire Department had over 250 calls for service in their first year!

The City of Bellevue is the fifth largest City in the State of Washington (USA) and growing at a high rate of speed with new housing and apartment complexes springing upward and outward all across the area. Currently, there is a population of approximately 145,300 residents (2019 Census) in a 33.5 square mile radius. It is about 15 miles to the East of Seattle, Washington.

Today, the City FD is said to be responding to 20,000 calls for service with 75% of them being mostly EMS calls with staffing with over 200 Professional Firefighters. The Fire Chief is Jay Hagen, formerly with the Seattle Fire Department.

Station 10 — 1217 112th Avenue NE. This is due to be under construction shortly which will house a new Engine Company, Aid 101 will be relocated to this new station along with Battalion 101. This station will cover northwest Bellevue, downtown, and the Bel-Red area already covered by some other stations. This will definitely help shorten response times. There are a lot of newer extremely large numbers of stories (buildings) in the downtown area that are of high value.
