About Prince George Fire Centre
There are six fire centres within the BC Wildfire Service:
Northwest Fire Centre, Prince George Fire Centre, Cariboo Fire Centre, Coast Fire Centre, Kamloops Fire Centre and the Southeast Fire Centre.

The Prince George Fire Centre is located within the largest forest region in the Province, said to be ten times the size of Vancouver Island (BC) with a total area of 33.6 million hectares. It covers the central and northeast portion of the Province, the north of the Interior Plateau and the Omenica Mountains (to the north) and sections of the Rocky Mountain Trench. To the east is the Peace Liard country and to the south is part of the Cariboo range.
It is mostly rugged and remote, home to the sub-alpine fir, interior cedar hemlock, boreal and sub-boreal spruce forest ecosystems.
