Saturday Fire Update, October 5, 2024, 1145 hours PT
The YELLOW LAKE FIRE continues to burn in the Uint-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, about 10 miles southeast of Francis, Utah. It originally started on September 28, 2024, near Yellow Lake and on the east and south of the Mill Hollow Reservoir in the Heber-Kamas Ranger District.
Extreme fire behavior with running, long-range spotting, and flanking have been observed by fire personnel from the ground to the skies and Officials.
Structures and sage-grouse habitats are being threatened.
About 7,798 acres of timber and medium slash have been burned. There is an 18% containment status and it is slated for a full containment status by October 30th.
About 420 total personnel are assigned along with 12 crews, 18 engines, and six helicopters under IC Joshua Lambert with the Northern UT Type 3 IMT.
Eight structures have been reported as lost.
