Sit Rep 1: June 28, 2025, Saturday, @ 1515 hours PDT

PINE VALLEY, UTAH — The FORSYTH FIRE ignited on June 19, 2025, from a lightning strike that passed over the area in Pine Valley in the Dixie National Forest.

The fire has burned about 11,642 acres in its short amount of time since it broke out. There is a 22% containment status at the time of this update.

There are currently 687 total personnel along and other Incident Cooperators from Dixie National Forest (US Forest Service), State of Utah Forestry, Fire and State Lands, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

Eastern Flank

The Eastern flank of the fire is burning in the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness. Currently, a team of crew supervisors are working to determine locations of natural barriers to help prevent the fire from progressing outside of containment resources.

Containment Efforts

Containment efforts in certain areas have been duly noted:

  • South side of the Pine Valley community.
  • West of the Pine Valley community.
  • Northeast of Pine Valley up towards the Gardner Peak Trail.
  • Western portion of the Pine Valley Rec Area.

Fire Restrictions

Starting today, Stage 1 fire restrictions begin for Washington, Iron, and the surrounding counties.
