Seven adults were dispatched when a structure fire broke out on the first floor of their two-story apartment complex on Saturday night around 2040 hours PT. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of K Street Northeast.
Firefighters quickly egressed, stopping the fire from spreading further through the interior of the building and containing it to one first floor apartment.
There was no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The cause is unknown, as well as the property damage to the contents and structure.
Firefighters from DC Fire and EMS were dispatched to a vacant school located at 31st and Ereie Streets SE for a reported fire in the air handler of the 2nd floor of the structure. Smoke was showing from the roof.
About 20 pieces of equipment along with 80 fire personnel are assigned to this incident.
Update 2 Alarm Fire 31st & Erie Sts SE. Fire involved bleachers in gymnasium of a large vacant school building. All fire knocked down. Ventilating heavy smoke conditions throughout the school, and searching for anyone possibly inside. No injuries. pic.twitter.com/axR3nN53CE
