We would like to give a huge Shout out to Katy and Kurtis Clawson who are the event organizers of this great fundraiser that will help raise money for the American Red Cross’s Disaster Fund. These funds will be used to help the fire victims of the disastrous and traumatic event that burned a homes, killed livestock and destroyed lives.
Currently, there are 185 confirmed runners and possibly another 130 that maybe coming to the event! Wow, not that’s Community Support. Lots of businesses and individuals are stepping up with donations and door prizes.
The fire event left over 70 homes burned; 23,000 acres scorched; livestock and domesticated animals either lost, injured or killed. It has been a very devasting fire to many involved, fighting the fire, a resident or indirectly impacted by the event. At one point, there were over 1,000 firefighters on the front line fighting fire. As of today, the fire was reported as being 91-percent contained. That is great news!
A HUGE Thank You to many firefighters, fire crews, DOC fireifghters (min-security inmates), National Guardsmen and the countless others that battled this stubborn blaze day and night, for protecting and saving the lives of many people, animals and property. They are the real Heroes in this story. To the people who came to the rescue to help support the fire crews making sure they were safe, fed and rehydrated and everything else that needed to be done – We Thank you for Service, Commitment and Dedication. Without everyone working together, this fire would not have been a success. Great job to everyone involved.
This Fun Run will help raise money for the Red Cross for the families who desperately need it. The Community is coming together to help those who have survived this tragic event to lend support and help raise money however they can.
