BLEWETT PASS — Fire officials for the Wenatchee Complex have asked the state to close Highway 97 near Blewett Pass due to fire threatening the highway.
The fire is backing down Tronson Ridge, toward Highway 97, about two or three miles north of the summit, said fire spokesman Nick Mickel.
He said he expects the state will be closing the highway this afternoon.
Another fire in Kittitas County is also threatening the highway on the other side of Blewett Pass, so a long stretch of the pass may be closed, he said.
Those hoping to travel over Highway 97 are encouraged to look for updates at dot.wa.gov
