Firefighters were dispatched from Burien and Normandy Park Fire Departments respectively to a commercial structure fire in the 10700 block of 16th Avenue SW, Seattle in the early evening on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
The building’s tenant is listed as the Yarington/White Center Funeral of Seattle. It is a 12,751 square foot wood structure built in 1918 and provides mortuary, cemetery and crematory services. It is located on the Seattle city line in King County, Washington State.
Crews immediately began assessing the situation and went up on to the rooftop. Smoke was seen billowing from the 2nd floor rooftop. It was later deemed too unsafe for them to remain as it was sagging. Firefighters had been standing in areas where there was beam supporting their weight.
A primary/secondary search of the building found nothing.
No cause was known at the time of this post, nor any reports of injuries to citizens or firefighters.
