UPDATE 2 — MAY 31, 2021 — 0940 PT
SYCAMORE CANYON, AZ — A wildfire, the SYCAMORE CANYON FIRE started on BLM and BIA lands on May 23, 2021, at around 0815 hours MST from an unknown cause that is under investigation. It is located about 15 miles southeast of Sells, Arizona.
SIZE UP — The fire has burned about 1,858 acres of short grass and brush and 40% contained. Fire behavior is minimal, creeping and smoldering.

COMMAND — Deputy IC Carl Schwope, SW Area Type 2 Team 4, assumed command on Saturday, may 29, 2021 at 0600 hours.
THREATS — Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) and AZ Department of Forestry and Fire Management (AZDFFM) lands.
CHALLENGES — Crews may be challenged by the continued dry conditions and high winds expected over the next week. In addition to full suppression of the Sycamore Canyon Fire, the incident management team is also responsible for responding to any new fire starts in the area surrounding the fire. – USFS
TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTION (TFR) — Temporary Flight Restriction is in place over the Sycamore Canyon Fire to ensure safe air operations.
RESTRICTIONS — Due to increased fire activity and dry conditions, Stage 2 fire restrictions are currently in effect in southeastern Arizona.
