Update 2: 1/22/2022, 1645 hours PT

Incident Summary: An escaped fire from a burn pile began spreading around 1536 hours PT on Saturday, 1/22/2022 on Lowden Lane off of Hwy 49, west of Nevada City in California.

Current Status:

Near the initial response time, the IC requested additional resources but due to staffing levels, no hand crews were available until 1616 hours from the South Lake Tahoe area. They were quickly canceled several minutes later as the 40-plus firefighters assigned to this incident were making good progress on the fire.

During the incident, there were five engines, one dozer, and a Fire Prevention Officer.

Ophir Hill and North San Juan FD both sent one water tender each to the fire.

Structure protection was in effect for the 10000 block of Monte Vista Court.

Size Up: Approximately, 3 acres with an unknown containment status.
