The CHALK MOUNTAIN FIRE started around noon this afternoon and is located in the 8200 block of U Highway 67 and CR 1004, about 4.6 miles southwest of Glen Rose (Somervell County), Texas.

Fire behavior is extreme with group torching, crowning, running, flanking, and spotting up to 200 yards north from timbered acres into the brush and grassy heavy fuels.

The current size of the fire is now estimated at 6,339 acres with a 10% containment status.

A mandatory evacuation was issued on July 19th by the Hood County officials of Hutchinson, Coleman Ranch Road, Rock Church Highway, and Nocal in Tolar, which has been since rescinded.

Twelve structures have been reported as lost.
