Update 2 – Friday, June 2, 2023, 1800 hours PDT
The Pass Fire is located 40 miles northwest of Winston, New Mexico, burning in the Gila National Forest, which was sparked by lightning on May 18, 2023.
The fire has consumed 21,207 acres of timber and short grass.

Current fire behavior has been observed by Fire Officials as moderate with creeping, isolated torching, and backing.
There is still a 0% containment status. An estimated containment status is expected for September 30, 2023.
Structures are threatened.
About 160 total personnel are assigned along with several crews, four engines, and a single helicopter, under the leadership of Pet Valenzuela, IC3 and John Selby, IC3(trainee).
The total fire suppression and containment efforts have reached $1.2 Million Dollars.
The cause was due to lightning passing over the area.
