UPDATE 1: Monday, June 12, 2023

CHEHALIS RIVER FIRE – INCIDENT #V10588

The Chehalis River Fire is located about 1.3 km or about less than one mile north of Chehalis and east of the Chehalis River, which was discovered on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 1512 hours PDT.

This is an out-of-control wildfire.


Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WA DNR) is being activated as mutual aid to fight fire along with their fellow wildland firefighters to these Canadian wildfires. – Local News Media


The coastal area has suffered underground drought within the Coastal Fire Centre. In the next few days, the relative humidity will drop to dangerous levels with impending future adverse weather conditions to deteriorate. On Tuesday, a sharp cold front will sweep across the fire center area, bringing increasing winds and a risk of lightning in the southern mainland zones. On Wednesday, there will be a return to summer-like rising temperatures and reduced relative humidity.

There are no evacuation orders in effect at the time of this update.

Assigned and working on the fire line including 85 firefighters along with the assistance of three helicopters.
