INCIDENT SUMMARY

MARICOPA COUNTY — A wildfire named the Diamond Fire still continues to have extreme fire behavior with wind-driven runs and a high rapid rate of spread, forcing even more evacuations.

It ignited near the area of 130th and Ranch Gate Road in the northern part of Scottsdale, outside of the city limits on Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2023. It is approximately said to be about 11 miles southwest of the community of Rio Verde.

CURRENT STATUS

Management of the fire is now under the command of a DOF and Fire Management Type 3 IMT with 200-plus firefighters remaining on the fire line.

The fire has now burned through 2,500 acres and there are over 1,100 residents evacuated.

There is a 0% containment status.

INCIDENT COOPERATORS:

Aircraft includes an unknown number of large air tankers (ATs), very large air tankers (VLATS), a lead plane, and an Air Attack have been assigned along with hand crews from the AZ DOF and Fire Management (State), Federal, and local fire agencies. Additionally, there are bout 25-30 engines with some assigned to the structure protection group, along with 200-250 total personnel.
