DAY 2 UPDATE: Friday, June 30, 2023, 2015 PDT (Edited)

Incident Summary: A fire is burning about two miles south of Arden near Moran Creek Road appearing off of Hwy 395 in Colville, (Stevens County) Washington State. The fire is listed as having ignited from an unknown source, which is under investigation on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 1337 hours PDT.

Fire Name: Changed from MORGAN FIRE to MORAN FIRE.

Current Size Up: 61 acres (June 30) up from 50 acres (June 29). Updated | 20% contained.

Evacuations: Level 2 for the area of Arden Butte Road area.

Initial Response: Firefighters and equipment were initially dispatched through the WANEC wildcad.net system on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 1337 hours PDT. The fire was last updated at 50 acres.


Fire Weather: RED FLAG WARNING in effect from 1100 to 2300 hours on Saturday, July 1, 2023, for wind and low RH for the foothills of Ne Washington, Colville Reservation, Methow Valley, Eastern Columbia Basin, Palouse, Snake River, and the Spokane, Washington State areas.

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM to 11 PM PDT Saturday.

* Winds: West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative Humidities: 10 to 18 percent.

* Impacts: Rapid fire spread with any new fires.
