Incident Summary | A newly reported wildfire named the Roza Creek Fire, which is located at Roza Creek which is between Yakima and Ellensburg, Washington ignited from an unknown cause on June 27, 2023. The cause is unknown and under investigation.
Size Up | The fire has burned approximately 717 acres and has a 75% containment status.
Resources | There are five crews, six engines, four dozers, a helicopter, and a total of 150 personnel assigned to this incident. Command of the wildfire is under the SE WA Type 3 IMT (assumed command on the morning of June 29, 2023). Some of the many fire agencies include Kittitas County Fire Protection District 6 (Crew 42/UKC Fuels), WA DNR, Rosyln Fire, Kittitas County Emergency Management/Sheriffs Office and Kittitas County FD7.

Fire Weather | A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect due to warmer temps, very low relative humidity, and strong winds.
Lands | Lands are on DNR, BLM, and WDFW-controlled lands and are home to many species of wildlife and in the many places used as rec areas.
Damage Assessment | No structures have been reported as damaged or lost.
Evacuations | Yesterday’s evacuations notifications east of the Yakima River at Roza Creek have been lifted. There are none in effect at this time.
