SIT REP: SUNDAY, JULY 2, 2023, 2130 PDT/MDT

A new wildfire incident was listed as a new start this morning at 1032 hours MDT by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Fire Officials as burning near the Arizona and New Mexico borders, adjacent to Whitmore Canyon Wilderness Study Area.

Around 1330 hours MDT, the fire was estimated at a whopping 100-200 acres in size but the aircraft was successful with dropping retardant around most of the fire while fire crews were going direct on the fireline.

Just after 2100 (2114) hours, the forward progression has finally stopped, per Fire Officials, and holding the fire at 200 acres.

The cause of the fire has not been released and there were no reports of injuries to Public Safety members or to the general public.
