MASON COUNTY, WASHINGTON STATE — A large wildfire designated the McEwan Fire is burning off of E Mason Lake Road, north of Shelton in Mason County, Washington. The fire was reported on July 4, 2023.

Local, County, and State firefighters have been dispatched, are en route, or working actively on the wildfire. The wildcad.net system is showing the following resources dispatched at 1407 hours PT which include: E8203, E8213, E8302, E8304, E8310, EIDE FIRE BOSS, H343WN, H8286, LANGAKER, MEYER, MOHLER, PEAK MOD, PEDERSEN, RIEPE and SHAFTO.
RESOURCE UPDATES
Central Mason Fire & EMS: According to Fire Officials (Central Mason Fire & EMS), the fire is estimated to be at 200-plus acres with a 0% containment status.
Level 3 evacuations (GO NOW!) are in effect for:
- Rainbow Lake
- E McEwan Prarie Road
- Mason Lake Road from Hwy 3 to Lake Limerick
- E John’s Prairie Road from Hwy 3 to Batstone Cutoff

Level 1 evacuation (BE READY) is in effect for:
- Oak Park
Mason County Sheriff’s Office: Deputies are making evacuation notifications and issuing evacuation orders as needed. (7/4/2023 1715)
Macecom (911 Comm Center): Every home on McEwan Prairie Rd is being evacuated and on Mason Lake Road up to Fire Station 54 and Mason Lake Road down to the BPA powerlines and up to Rainbow Lake, and then all of the Rainbow Lake are all at the Level 3 evacuation, which is mandatory, Little Bear Lane is also a mandatory evacuation.
