ALDER CREEK FIRE

Sit Rep 1: Saturday, July 8, 2023, 1330 PT

The Alder Creek Fire is burning on land owned by the Bureau of Lands Management or BLM more commonly called, about 10 miles west of Spray, Oregon in the Prineville District. About 2,005 acres of timber, grass, and brush have been destroyed. There is still a 0% containment status.

Fire Officials: “Firefighters continue to work on creating solid containment lines on the southeast corner of the fire and preparing for possible winds with the predicted thunderstorm moving through the fire area this afternoon.

Fire behavior has been observed as active with running, torching, and creeping.

Area and road closures are in effect.

There are about 238 total personnel along with seven crews and 18 engines assigned to this incident.

The total cost to date for fire suppression and containment efforts has already reached $750,000.
