BOULDER CREEK FIRE

FIRE COMMUNITY MEETING TONIGHT AT 1900 HOURS PT: Northwest Incident Command Team 10 is hosting a Boulder Fire Community Meeting on Thursday, 7/13 at 7pm in Wamic, OR, and virtually via Facebook Live. Remember – you don’t need a FB account to watch the live event.

Incident Summary

The BOULDER CREEK FIRE is located about 26 miles southwest of Dufur, which is southeast of Mt. Hood near the Boulder Lake Trailhead. It was reported on July 8, 2023, prompting firefighters and equipment from the Mt. Hood National Forest (USFS) to respond.

The fire was observed burning in a heavily forested area with steep slopes and prompting the emergency evacuation of the Boulder Lake and Windy Campgrounds.

Current Status

The fire behavior is currently being observed as active with creeping, group torching and spotting.

There is currently an unknown cause that is under investigation.

Resources

There are a total of 300 personnel along with six hand crews, seven engines, seven heavy equipment, four water tenders, two fixed-Wing aircraft, and five copters. The Incident Command is under the joint command of Al Lawson and Nathan Rabe with the NW IMT 10.

Damage Assessment

There has been a total cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $1.6 Million Dollars.
