Two wildfires, the BLACK MOUNTAIN FIRE and the TREADWAY FIRE, appear to be burning near one another and AZ State Forestry states they have not merged together, which we assume some are speculating this on Social Media.

According to fire officials, the updates are being provided with both wildfires burning in the same vicinity on Black Mountain, approximately 17 miles north of Safford, Arizona.
Fire behavior has been observed for both of them as being extreme with wind-driven runs. They are being pushed to the northeast over hilly, steep, and rugged terrain. This is causing challenges to the six SEATs, two LATs, and one copter, as the fire is punching through the retardant containment lines.
Officials are discussing another strategy to help stop the spread of these two wildfires.
No structures have been threatened, but some grazing lands have been impacted.
No word on the cause has been released and no reports of firefighters being injured at the time of this update.
