A wildfire named the HAYDEN FIRE is burning about 18 miles west of Leadore in the Lemhi Range, Idaho, which broke out on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 1318 hours MDT/1218 hours PDT. Active fire activity has been burning in Little Mill Creek, Mill Creek, Kadletz Creek, Bates Gulch, and Jack Smith Gulch.

There are approximately 681 total personnel under the direction of IC Mike Johnston with the Great Basin Team 7, which includes 16 crews, 28 engines, and eight copters.

The fire has burned about 22,000 acres and is now 47% contained. It is rooted in steep and difficult terrain. Current fire behavior has been observed as moderate with surface burning in dead timber and heavy slash, as well as, isolated torching in timber and shrubs, and short-range spotting.

The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $10.1 Million Dollars. No structures are showing as destroyed.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.
