SIT REP 1: Sunday, August 13, 2023, 1945 PT

A wildfire named the MT. STIRLING FIRE is thought to be sparked by lightning on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 1529 hours is located off Wheeler Peak Road, about three-to-four miles off Hwy 95 and Forest Service Road 565C in the area of Mt. Stirling in Indian Springs, Nevada (USA).
The fire has burned about 35 acres of sagebrush and pinyon-juniper and is 10% contained.
The fire is under the command of the U.S. Forest Service, the Lead Agency, and at the helm of managing two engines, a Type 3 helicopter, air attack, two SEATs, two LATs, eight smokejumpers, and a Battalion.
Due to extreme and poor access to the area, Fire Officials have had to rely heavily on air assets.
