A 2019 video with a Seattle Firefighter with the West Seattle Blog talks about the dangers of trench rescues back then and we know there are still unknowns when there are multiple rescuers on the scene and the possibilities of what can happen.

Rescue crews were able to reach the patient deep in the trench at the construction site/excavation site and extricated him.
He was assessed by firefighters and Medics at the scene. They determined their approximate 50-year-old patient to be in stable condition and transported him to a nearby hospital for more treatment.
The original call was about a person who fell into a trench at a construction site and sustained injuries.
The units that were dispatched included A14, Air10, B2, B5, E25, L10, M1, M44, R1, and SAFT2.
