CURRENT STATUS

A wildfire rekindled on the 2nd Flatiron (a rock formation) but due to tireless efforts overnight until 0100 this morning, it was brought under control, fully contained, and extinguished.

Last night at 2215 hours PST, the fire had a 50% containment status.

A Boulder Fire-Rescue PIO stated last night approximately 800-1,000 acres had been burned but that was a very rough estimate given.

CAUSE

The preliminary cause of the fire is unknown and fire investigators are currently investigating as to what ignition started it.

FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS

The area has been recently under RED FLAG WARNINGS for the Boulder area and will remain in effect today and tomorrow due to high winds and low humidity.

COLORADO TASK FORCE CREATED

A Task Force has been created to support Region 14 and the Eastern Plains through the current wind event. This was recognized by DFPC District 1 Leadership in conjunction with DFPC Fire Intelligence. Personnel from 3141, 3111, James Peack, BC-14, and BC-12 are available for new starts throughout the region to support local agencies per the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Facebook Page.
