The Texas A&M Forest Service received a request to respond with equipment and personnel to the Roughneck Fire burning near Borger in the Panhandle of Hutchinson County, Texas, late this afternoon. (around 1630 hours CST/1430 hours PST)

It is estimated to be at 300 acres and 25% containment status as of 1840 hours CST.

The forward progression of the fire has been stopped and crews are working on a firing operation, along with heavy equipment working to improve and widen a containment line around the fire perimeter.

Evacuations are in effect for the community of Sanford.

Aircraft and ground resources are on the fire line as we type this post.
