Several wildfires are burning in the State of Oklahoma (USA) with 14 new fires in the northeast region for a total of 319.6 acres. One of them was listed as an escaped RX burn, while 12 were incendiary and the last one was an unknown cause.

Here are the current wildfires burning in the State of Oklahoma:

CABIN FIRE

The CABIN FIRE is burning in Adair County and has scorched about 109 acres. It currently has a 50% containment status.

OFS is working alongside Ellis County Fire Departments and additional County Wildland Task Forces to contain active fire growth on the southern end of the Catesby Fire in Ellis County, says OFS.

OKMULGEE COUNTY FIRE

This is technically an unnamed fire located in the Okmulgee County area, which has about 900 acres burned. There is no known containment status at this time.

There is an unknown cause and property loss at the time of this post for this wildfire.

CATESBY FIRE

The CATESBY FIRE is located about four miles south of Catesby in grass and timber.

On Friday, March 1, 2024, the fire behavior was observed as moderate with creeping and smoldering.

Today, the Ellis County fire has destroyed 90,920 acres and a noticeable increase of 350 acres within the last 24 hours.

Fire crews have been completing firing operations which began this morning at 1100 hours CST. It now has a newly constructed control line to keep the newest number of acres inside of the containment line(s) It has a 40% containment status.

As of March 1st, the fire suppression and containment costs were at about $395,000 to date. Additionally, there were 99 total personnel alongside 33 engines.

SLAPOUT FIRE

The SLAPOUT FIRE is burning about six miles west of Laverne in the Beaver County portion of the State with 26,048 acres as a rough estimate and an 80% containment status.

Fire behavior was observed as moderate with creeping and smoldering.

Today, Fire Officials say it is most likely to turn this fire back over to local units to assume command this week.

As of Friday, March 1, 2024, there were 56 total personnel along with 18 engines. The total cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts rose to $229,000.

A CL 415 (Super Scooper) was brought in by the OFS in conjunction with their partnership with the U.S. Forest Service working the CATESBY FIRE.

SMOKEHOUSE FIRE

The SMOKEHOUSE FIRE ignited within the State of Texas on private land but quickly increased in size and later crossed over the State boundaries into Oklahoma. It is about one mile north of Stinnett, Texas.

Most of the fire is in Texas and has burned about 1,078,086 acres with the other portion in Oklahoma with 31,596 acres singed.

It is sitting at a 75% containment status. Fire Officials say the fire perimeter looks good and local fire departments will likely assume management of this wildfire.

As of Friday, March 1st, the cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment status is unknown, there were about 108 total personnel assigned to the incident along with 29 engines.
