A brush fire located at mile marker 35 on Bush Highway at SR 87 has ignited and is designated as the 87 Fire near the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona.

There was no threat to the town.
Resources and equipment were dispatched through the Phoenix (AZ) Dispatch Center at 1809 hours MST, which included the BC 12-31, Tonto National Forest (TNF) Engines 12-37, 12-35, E12-38, and 12-18 with aviation assets: AA, Lead, T1 Helo, 1 LAT T-169, 1 VLAT and T-912.
Later U.S. Forest Service – Tonto National Forest Fire Officials stated around 2153 hours MST, the fire began to lay down this evening allowing crews to stop the forward progression.
The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to wild horses in the Salt River area stated they has a facility about three miles from where the fire is located and reported all horses are safe.
Fire Operations will continue tomorrow morning.
The new size of the fire has increased to 85 acres.
