A 3rd alarm brush fire is burning off of Hwy 172 @ MP 12 in Douglas County, Washington. The location of the fire differs from those who are reporting it but we are getting our information directly from the Sheriff’s Office which released it on their Facebook page.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the fire has already burned 60+ acres and is continuing to spread.
CLOSED: Hwy 172 at MP 10-13.
Resources include Douglas County local fire agencies, the Sheriff’s Office, and the WA State DNR fire units and equipment. DNR units were dispatched through the WA Central Washington Communications Center at 1405 hours PT. Their Incident # is WADGEN-321.

This area lies at the base of Withrow Moraine and Jameson Lake Drumline Field, a National Park serviced designated and privately owned National Natural Landmark in an unincorporated community in Douglas County. It is on the Waterville Plateau section of the Columbia Plateau.
It is 4.5 miles west-northwest from Lamoine, 10.9 miles northeast of Mansfield, 12.8 miles west-southwest of Waterville, and approximately 13.5 miles northwest of Chelan.

FIRE HISTORY
A fire we covered in this same area occurred on July 11, 2020, which was a 3-alarm brush fire west of SR 172 near Rd 11 NW and Rd NW with evacuations.
