INCIDENT SUMMARY

Date/Started. Both wildfires started on July 11, 2024.

Cow Valley Fire. A wildfire Designated the COW VALLEY FIRE, started on July 11, 2024, at 0710 hours PT.

73,828 acres. 0% containment. $4,000,000 Cost-to-date.

There were 82 total personnel along with seven engines and one copter were assigned to the wildfire this morning.

Bonita Road Fire. The fire is also located in the same location.

2,727 acres. 0% contained. $1,000,000 cost-to-date.

There are six (6) total personnel along with two engines.

Initial Fire Attack According to the COW VALLEY FIRE INFORMATION PAGE, Ironside Rural Fire Protection Association firefighters were first due on the scene when the fire was reported to have been burning on private property early Thursday. It then crossed over onto Vale Bureau of Land Management and Oregon Department of Forestry-protected lands, about nine miles east of Ironside (Malheur County) and 35 miles north of Vale, Oregon.

Fire Behavior. Fire behavior is considered extreme with running, spotting, and flanking.

Cause. This is a human-caused wildfire.

RESOURCES

Staffing. There are 82 total personnel but more are en route.

Unified Command. A CIMT Team 6 IMT is immobilizing today and plans an in-briefing tomorrow.

State Resources. The Oregon State Governor Tina Kotek issued an Oregon Conflagration and several Task Forces have been dispatched from Matailla, Multnomah, Lane, and Marion Counties.

Governor Tina Kotek has authorized an emergency conflagration to deploy more resources as it has been burning all day.

Incident Cooperators. Red Cross of Idaho and Oregon, Oregon State Fire Marshal, OR State Government, OR Department of Transportation (ODOT).

EVACUATIONS

Red Cross Shelter. Malheur County Fairgrounds, 795 NW 9th Street, Ontario, Oregon. The fairgrounds can house large animals and have space for RVs. All services are free.

Cooling Centers. See the Cooling Centers open in the Malheur County.

DAMAGE/LOSSES

Structure Loss. Two abandoned structures were burned and lost. (Cow Valley Fire)
