INCIDENT SUMMARY | A second wildfire in Washington State is being managed by the same IMT, CA Team 15, a CIMT not that they are close to one another but resources are stretched a little thin due to multiple wildfires in our State and in the northwest in general. It was sparked by dry lightning on July 17, 2024.
TRAFFIC ALERT | SR 20 IS CLOSED.
CAUSE | Dry Lightning.
LOCATION | This wildfire is located 17 miles west of Mazama, Washington in the North Cascades Hwy SR 20 Corridor in Skagit County, Washington State.
LEAD AGENCY | The Lead Fire Agency for this incident is the U.S. Forest Service – Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
INCIDENT COOPERATORS | There is a total of 175 personnel along with two crews and 16 engines. Here is a small recap of the number of resources currently assigned to this incident.

CURRENT STATUS | This wildfire continues to burn on the northeastern side of SR 20 in timber and with very steep slopes between Mebee Pass and Mount Hardy.
Today, a RED FLAG WARNING was issued due to scattered lightning and gusty winds.
Fire Officials are expecting wind gusts of 40 MPH to hit the area which may cause some temporary firefighting suppression efforts to cease until the conditions are more favorable.
SIZE UP | About 1,754 acres of timber, closed timber litter, and grass burned which has a sustained 0% containment status.
RESOURCES | 175 total personnel with two crews and 16 engines.
FIRE BEHAVIOR | Active with uphill runs, backing, and single tree torching.
COST-TO-DATE | 5.2 Million Dollars.
