Battle Mountain Complex

The BATTLE MOUNTAIN COMPLEX is still burning west of Ukiah, Oregon, which was sparked by an unknown source and is still under investigation since the moment it started on July 17, 2024, at 2200 hours PT.
The fire today has burned about 182,870 acres collectively of timber, grass, and brush and now has an 87% containment status. It has also destroyed 7 homes, and 10 other types of structures and damaged 2 other residences. There are still 357 homes and 530 minor structures still being threatened.
About 1,017 total personnel along with 22 crews, 3 copters, 25 water tenders, 18 dozers, and 36 engines are assigned to this incident, they have been tasked with assisting with containment efforts, mop-up operations, and responding to hotspots. They are also working on removing unneeded equipment and repairing any damages during the height of fire suppression.

A whopping 434 miles of fire line was constructed and it is going to take a long time for them to repair it. Today, they have removed nearly 35,000 feet of hose from the southwestern portion of the Complex. Many fire objectives remain and the highest priority is being given to those most needing urgent attention. This also includes fixing fences, firelines, stream crossings, and landings.
The management of the fire is under the leadership of the SW Area IMT Team 3’s IC: Matt Rau.
Incident Cooperators involved in this Complex include the Grant County Emergency Management Agency, Morrow County EMA, U.S. Forest Service – Umatilla National Forest, OR DOF, BLM Oregon & Washington, City of Monument (OR), and the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office.
