Cougar Creek Fire

The COUGAR CREEK FIRE is located about 1 mile west of Hwy 129 and Grand Ronde River intersection and 35 miles southeast of Dayton, Washington, and is listed as Incident #WA-SES-020209 started on July 15, 2024.
The undetermined cause of this fire is still under investigation and has not been released as of yet. Fire behavior has been observed as minimal with smoldering.
It is under the management of a Complex Incident Management Team known as a CIMT, NW Team 12, and IC Jeff Dimke, who assumed command on July 31, 2024, at 1900 hours PT. Wednesday is the last day the IMT Team 12 will remain on the incident.
About 24,091 acres of grass and timber have been burned, along with destroying 3 minor structures and 1 home. Five other structures have been reported as damaged. Containment is listed at 60% and it is slated for full containment on October 1, 2024.
There are a total of 262 personnel along with 6 crews, 3 helicopters, and 26 engines.
Incident Cooperators who are involved in this incident include WA DNR, OR DOF, USFS, and BLM.
