OKANOGAN-WENATCHEE NATIONAL FOREST — The Easy Fire is located about 17 miles west of Mazama and off of the North Cascades Hwy 20 corridor located in Washington State. It was ignited by lightning that struck the area deep within the dense forest among heavy timber in the Methow Valley. It would quickly spread over time and cause it to burn a few thousand acres.
The fire has burned about 2,130 acres of timber, closed timber litter, and brush. Today, the fire is listed at 39% contained. Fire behavior has been reduced to an observed minimal fire activity with creeping and smoldering.
There are 26 total personnel with one crew and two engines.
The total cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has soared to 13.8 Million Dollars.
