Oak Canyon Fire

Published Monday, September 2, 2024, 1715 hours PT

WASCOE COUNTY, OREGON — A thunderstorm touched the Tygh Valley area and ignited several wildfires including this one, which is listed according to wildcad.net at 5,000 acres.

There is no known containment status at this time.

The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office states the fire has not jumped the Deschutes River and that BLM has two aircraft working with another one on the way.

Fire personnel and equipment responded with Mosier, BLM, Jupiter Flat Maupin, Dufure, Tygh Valley, RFPa, and local rangers. Air support has been dropping all along.

According to wildcad.net they are showing the following resources deployed: BC-5121, E-5427, and E-5422.
