TIGER CREEK FIRE

SIT REP 1: Sunday, October 6, 2024, 1430 hours PT


The Tiger Creek Fire started on Tuesday, October 1st at 1720 hours and is located 15 miles SE of Walla Walla, in the Mill Creek Municipal Watershed on the Walla Walla Ranger District.

The CA Interagency IMT 15 assumed command at 1800 hours on the same day it started.

Per Fire Officials: “The Tiger Creek Fire saw some growth today due to higher winds. Fire crews are continuing to work from an established anchor point on the fire and create a containment line where it is feasible. Aircraft continue to be used to limit fire spread and spot fire growth in the Mill Creek Watershed. Halting the growth, active suppression of this fire, and public safety will continue to be a priority task for fire crews, while limiting environmental impacts to the watershed.”

There are 250 total fire personnel with five (5) crews, (5) engines and (6) helicopters.

Incident Cooperators consist of: USFS, OR DOF, and CA Interagency 15 IMT.

About 475 acres of timber (grass/understory), brush, and short grass have been burned and there is a 5% containment status.

There is a moderate fire behavior with backing, creeping, and single-tree torching.

1 Firefighter was injured with a burn to the foot.

Unknown cause.
