LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
LAFD firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire involving a single-family residence in the 7000 block of 4th Avenue in Hyde Park, a community within Los Angeles, on Saturday evening, March 8, 2025.

First arriving units reported a well-involved dwelling with heavy fire inside two rooms with a report of entrapment. Firefighters quickly rescued a 50-year-old male in critical condition and transported him to a local hospital. He was later downgraded to being in grave condition, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Firefighters would knock down the fire within 22 minutes on the incident timer, which took about 41 personnel to reach one of several fire objectives.
A firefighter would later be transported to the hospital for serious burning injuries, which were said to be non-life threatening.
Units dispatched included: AR1, BC11, BC13, E233, E266, E294, E33, E57, E94, EM11, HM21, RA33, RA266, RA857, T33, T66, T94, CH7, CH9, CH13.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
