Greene Fire

The Greene Fire is located on lands managed by the Mississippi Forestry Commission, about five (5) miles northeast of Leakesville (Greene County), Mississippi.

Fire behavior is still being reported by the area’s Fire Managers as extreme with running.

About 2,274 acres of southern rough and timber have been burned. There is a 70% containment status. There is an unknown date when fire officials say this fire will be fully contained and put out.

Reports of an escaped burn pile may be the cause of this wildfire but we are waiting for the “official” determination by the Fire Service.

There are 12 total personnel with no other resources assigned to this incident.

No structures have been reportedly lost.

The Cost-to-Date at this time for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $455,000.
