INCIDENT SUMMARY
The Jones Road Fire is located on Jones Road in Ocean and Lacey Townships in Ocean County, New Jersey.
The fire broke out on Tuesday, April 22nd, and has grown into a large and out of control firestorm. This has prompted mandatory evacuations in various locations.

CURRENT STATUS
The fire has burned about 3,500 acres and has a 5% containment as of 1900 hours EDT or 1600 hours PDT (Our time zone/West Coast time).
As of 1710 hours PDT (2010 hours EDT), Fire Officials stated there are about 1,320 structures threatened which have prompted about 3,000 residents to be evacuated. Multiple shelters have been opened with the Southern Regional High School being opened to people and their pets.
Media outlets are reporting that the fire has impacted a large business complex and is considered as a total loss. Multiple street closures are in effect. Traffic is said to be heading in the wrong way on the garden State Parkway to avoid flames.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
