A wildfire named the PATTERSON SLOUGH FIRE was said to be burning one mile north of Irrigon, Oregon, in the Mid Columbia NWR, near Kennewick, Washington.
Fire fuels, such as grass and brush, are said to have moderate fire behavior with backing, creeping, and running.
Local fire chasers are reporting this was the REFUGE FIRE, now known as the PATTERSON SLOUGH FIRE.
Some media outlets were reporting the fire had been put out and Command was terminated on March 26, 2025, but some other sources are reporting the incident is still ongoing. We will post a new update if new info comes to light.
As of today’s update via the wildcad.net website, it was last reported at 375 acres, while it was listed as 30 acres through the NIFC.gov site.
State firefighters and resources were dispatched on May 25, 2025, @ 1938 hours.
At the helm is Incident Commander Cory Thompson.
There are about 31 total personnel with one crew and three engines.
The fire has a 50% containment status per the NIFC.gov website.
The cost to date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $21,000.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
